Case Study | 3PL | Modern CFS 2.0 | Intelligent Air Cargo Logistics Center

3PL Air Cargo Logistics · Dallas, USA

Challenge

As air cargo throughput continued to increase, the logistics center faced growing operational pressure in cargo handling, sorting, and warehouse coordination.

Key challenges included:

  • High daily cargo throughput requirements
  • Heavy dependence on manual pallet movement
  • Inefficient cargo staging and buffering
  • Complex coordination between sorting, storage, and outbound operations
  • Limited processing efficiency during peak periods

Traditional workflows struggled to support the speed and scalability required for modern air cargo operations.

Solution

ENGOAL deployed an integrated intelligent logistics solution for the digital air cargo handling center.

The project included:

  • Intelligent pallet conveyor systems
  • AGV transportation and buffering operations
  • Automated sorting and transfer workflows
  • Gaylord pallet handling workstations
  • PMC pallet staging and conveying systems
  • Integrated warehouse coordination platform

The system connected inbound handling, buffering, sorting, and outbound transfer into a unified automated workflow.

Project Scope

  • 300+ AGV storage locations
  • 2 Gaylord palletworkstations
  • 2 PMC pallet workstations
  • 3 robotic depalletizing workstations

Results

  • Cargo throughput capacity reached 150 tons per day
  • Buffer storage capacity exceeded 100 tons
  • Reduced more than 12 operators
  • Gaylord pallet processing efficiency reached 170 boxes/hour
  • Overall operational efficiency improved by 2×
  • Achieved full-process visualized logistics management

Industry Value

The project demonstrates how intelligent automation can modernize air cargo logistics infrastructure by improving throughput, reducing labor dependency, and enabling scalable warehouse coordination for high-frequency freight operations.
